Summary: versatile, great photos Comment: A replacement for my Canon A40 w 3x zoom and 2.1 mpx. A world of difference,
ESPECIALLY with that swiveling large size LCD. What a help!!!! Even in sun can
adjust so rarely need to use viewfinder.
The large mpx serves as an additional zoom factor, since when you set camera at
max size/rez with very large mpx image, AND use zoom, you can get good image of
smaller subject from a decent distance, nearly like using a telescope!!!
Batt life very good, with the 4 AA as was with my earlier model. Actually so may
varients for pic taking I tend to get lost at times, but since I read the How To in
manual only when I HAVE to, its my fault.
Highly recommended. Now all I need is decent aftermarket flash for additional interior work.

Summary: Fantastic camera Comment: I previously owned a Nikon Coolpix 3.1 MP camera, so that had set my expectations before buying the Powershot A630. This camera is a HUGE upgrade in many areas, including:
* Fast startup
* Image quality (which is an obvious one going from 3.1 to 8 megapixels)
* Ability to shoot images in low light
* The flip open/hide screen is great too. By not using the screen (which is the normal condition when I shoot) it saves battery life.
* The fact that it uses standard AA batteries instead of expensive camera batteries.
* Even the included software to manage the downloads and view/edit images is an upgrade
The only negatives I can think of are:
* Heavy in comparison to other cameras I've had/tested
* Battery life isn't great. That may have to do with my choice of batteries, too.
* It should come with a case

Summary: Great camera, reasonably priced! Comment: I am one to really review and investigate a product before I purchase it. We have had previous Canon digital cameras and as always Canon has upgraded and comes through with a great product. I bought this as a starter camera for my son and it has proven to be easy to use. The picture quality is good and there are many other options/settings that we have yet to investigate and try. The flip screen is amazing.
The two things that I would even slightly comment to the negative are: the memory card and focusing. As with all digital cameras, the memory card that comes with the camera is small. You would be well advised to buy as additional memeory card with your purchase of the camera.
Also, focusing at very far distances takes some getting used to. As you focus the image blurs then clears and sometimes blurs again before a final clear. It is important to make sure the image is clear on the LCD before you click the picture. After a weekend of picture taking we got used to this.
As always, even after surfing reviews and pricing, Amazon was right on with reviews, the best price and very quick shipping.
I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Summary: this camera is our newest addition to the FAMILY!! Comment: i have to say I LOVE my camera. if you are looking for a fairly easy camera with all kinds of options that are easy to figure out (like at the aquarium or very bright lights...) this camera is for you. I also got a set of rechargeable batteries and a 2G memory card (i have filled twice in two weeks) the video is very nice..the speed is great for this price of cameras. the best i have seen. i spent weeks comparing price, priorities(pixels, eye finder, batteries, etc.) and customer review...I am VERY pleased with my choice.
things i LOVE that i was not looking for...
the rotating screen (i like to throw it in my purse and it is protected)
rechargeable batteries.
My favorite setting is the "kids and pets" with the continuous picture thingy.(i am not a camera expert)...going down a pool slide or jumping of the diving board is GREAT!! all in focus!!
LOVE IT!!!

Summary: Better than I had hoped! Comment: After shopping around several stores and online, I bought the A630 with high hopes. This camera did not disappoint! I love the huge LCD screen that can be folded over to protect and refolded to address the picture to help produce and center a family photo or self portrait. There are several lighting options that you can use that definitely help in tricky situations. I took this camera to a Cincinnati Reds game and was impressed at the quality photos I was able to retrieve. I sat midway up in the stands and was able to capture some excellent batting pics of Griffey Jr. However, when the zoom is in full effect the camera must be held completely still in order to get clear photos. After some trial and error I was able to come back with some great pics! This camera gives very sharp, colorful pics almost everytime. It took some time to get used to the focus, which is made by holding the shutter button halfway down before taking the pic. I also used the video function at a recent party and was suprised to find that the audio came out better than expected. The video is a little grainy, but I bought it for the pictures, not the video. Although bigger than your normal point and shoot cameras, it is still an excellent buy for the quality photos that you will get in return. And at 8 megapixels I will not need to upgrade for quite some time.
